Frankfurt Prepare To Face Barcelona In Europa League Quarter-Final First Leg

INTERNATIONAL: There is “huge enthusiasm” ahead of Thursday’s Europa League quarter final first leg between Frankfurt and former European champions Barcelona, the German side’s captain Sebastian Rode said on Wednesday 6th April.

“Up until now we have been playing an outstanding Europa League season, unbeaten so far and so we hope it won’t be the end at the quarter final,” added Coach Oliver Glasner during a news conference in Frankfurt.

The Frankfurt coach, who is Austrian, also said his team would “not go into this game thinking how we can stop Barcelona offensively and how we can achieve a 0-0 draw. We will always be looking for opportunities, simply because it’s a lot more fun.”

Captain Sebastian Rode said that while the quarter final was “something special” for the new players, “we need to keep a cool head.”

“We obviously want to keep up the motivation, yet not get over-motivated in some stupid battles,” said Rode.
